It's this problem for the spiritually weak that's led me to show some of these preachers for who they really are; to advise you, the supporters and would-be supporters of the preachers. I create to attentive the Human body of Christ about this proliferation in the Church; the danger of inspirational speaking packed because the gospel; and to teach you how to identify a motivational audio in the pulpit when you run into one; which I claim, unfortunately, that there are lots of out there.
So, let us begin by determining the two leading inspirational speakers in pulpits or what I call, “motivational preachers.” The two leading inspirational preachers of our time are Pastor Joel Osteen of the New Lakewood Church in Houston, Texas and Bishop T.D. Jakes of the Potter's Home, Texas, Texas!
Astonished? Maybe! Perhaps not! Nevertheless, if you are amazed to learn that those two are motivational preachers, perhaps it's as they are your chosen preachers. Perhaps, it's because you've always believed them to be “O Good Ones.” Or maybe it's due to their achievement, popularity, ministry measurement, followership, etc. or even due to the good they have done in society. As individuals, we often attribute worldly accomplishment, excellent operates, ministry measurement, popularity, followership, etc. with godly success. Thus, the bigger a church, the popular or successful a preacher, the more accomplishment we believe a person or company has. We actually credit these accomplishments to God's blessings. But worldly accomplishment, good operates, ministry measurement as well as big followership is certainly not the measure of godly success. An individual can have every one of these, yet not be godly. For example, Oprah Winfrey has all these attributes, and yet she's not really a preacher; neither may her accomplishment be viewed godly; due to what she espouses.
So we can not pass by worldly accomplishment, good works, acceptance, ministry measurement as well as followership. In fact, T.D. Jakes in a CNN/TIME report was called “Oprah-in-a-pulpit. However for Winfrey's common spirituality, Jakes replacements God.” That is to express that, if Oprah were to become a preacher, she'd probably have among the largest churches in the world! But thankfully, she's enough feeling to stay in her lane (at least for now). So, every one of these attributes have nothing to do with godly Stephen Pierce!
But right before we search at why Joel Osteen and T.D. Jakes are inspirational preachers, let us first know what inspirational speaking is, the benefits of inspirational talking and the threat of packaging inspirational speaking because the gospel.
Simply, motivational speaking can be an stimulating, enjoyable presentation; meant to encourage the fans to complete better and be greater in particular regions of their lives. In a sense, the motivational speaker is definitely an encourager – i.e. the people's encourage leader. He or she inspires persons into action. Motivational speaking is based largely on psychological or individual strength and not God's strength. It's what a person can perform in their possess energy, rather than what Lord can do through anyone in His strength.
